5-Minute How to Do Half Pigeon Yoga Pose (aka) Sleeping Swan in Yin Yoga
Learn how to practise Half Pigeon Pose, also known as Sleeping Swan in Yin Yoga, in this accessible five-minute posture tutorial.
Chris Abay explains how to position the front leg, support the hips and adapt the pose to your individual mobility. The posture explores the hips, glutes and surrounding fascial tissues without forcing flexibility or placing unnecessary pressure on the knee.
Half Pigeon or Sleeping Swan may be particularly useful when the hips feel stiff after prolonged sitting, running or other repetitive activities. Have yoga blocks, a bolster or a folded blanket available for support, and reduce the intensity if you experience knee discomfort, pinching or sharp pain.
